Fire Alarm Technician
Purpose
The Fire Alarm Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our commercial clients by installing, servicing, inspecting, and repairing fire alarm and life‑safety systems. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in the field. The technician supports ongoing system reliability, responds to service needs, and helps customers understand and maintain their fire protection systems.

Overview
Electric Advantage, Inc. is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician with at least five years of experience and NICET certification. This role involves scheduled service, inspections, repairs, and on‑call rotation for established commercial customers. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in field service, electrical and mechanical systems, and familiarity with fire alarm system sales and customer support.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems in commercial facilities

Perform routine inspections and functional testing to ensure system reliability

Respond to service calls, diagnose issues, and repair or replace components to meet code requirements

Conduct fire alarm testing and inspections in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes

Prepare accurate, timely inspection reports and service documentation

Work directly with customers to assess needs and recommend appropriate system solutions

Provide training and guidance to customers on system operation and maintenance

Experience & Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents

Strong mechanical aptitude for system installation and troubleshooting

NICET certification preferred

Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on fire alarm experience

Experience with special hazard suppression systems (FM‑200, Halon) is a plus

Proficiency with major fire alarm brands such as Simplex, Notifier, and Fire‑Lite
-
Availability for on‑call rotation
-
Comfortable working on ladders (6–12 ft) and lifts
-
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work in overhead, confined, or tight spaces (attics, crawl spaces, etc.)

Highly organized with the ability to manage service tickets and required documentation

Strong communication skills for explaining work and system needs to customers

Excellent written communication and attention to detail in service reporting
